On February 26, 2015, the world was graced with the biggest controversy and most confusing moment of the year: The Dress.  We, as a society, were divided.  Team Blue and Black, or Team White and Gold?  Overnight, this photo turned viral, and was spread around the world via Twitter, Tumblr and BuzzFeed.  Along the way, many theories were created that the photo changes between the colors on its own, however, many scientists explained that color that we see is determined by the way our mind interprets light, and reflections on surfaces.  In the end, it was concluded that #TheDress was #TeamBlue&Black.  Sorry #TeamWhite&Gold, your loss.

During the 1976 Olympic Games, the world was introduced to Bruce Jenner, a track and field superstar who broke world records and won gold in the Decathlon. In June of 2015, after years in the world of sports, Jenner made a reappearance in the light of her transition from Bruce to Caitlyn. This transition stoked the discussion about transgender rights in our nation. Her announcement coincided with the Supreme Court ruling earlier this year legalizing same-sex marriage in our country. Jenner was honored with the ESPY’s 2015 Arthur Ashe Courage Award and has been regarded as one of the most influential people of the year. She has become a symbol of transgender rights around the world.
