This Past Week:
Saturday 2/5: This past Saturday, Newton South’s Newtones performed at the ICHSA, a regional a cappella competition. Though the group did not place, senior alto Tema Siegel did receive an award for being an outstanding soloist. Videos from the event will be posted shortly.
Sunday 2/5: As most Americans, especially New Englanders know, the Super Bowl took place during the evening. Although the Patriots won with an amazing overtime comeback, there is no doubt that Lady Gaga was one of the real stars of the night. Her halftime show needed no guest star and her eye catching costumes, modern dance moves, and infectious energy captured the spirit of the Super Bowl.
This Coming Week:
Thursday 2/9 through Saturday 2/11: This coming Thursday through Saturday night at 7:30 PM, South stage’s Commedia will take place at Newton City Hall and War Memorial (1000 Commonwealth Ave. Newton MA, 02459). This production takes a Renaissance Italian style of masked acting and turns it on its head with wild physical comedy and heavy amounts of improvisation and audience participation. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased on southstage.org or in the Theater Office.
