This Upcoming Week:

Monday 1/23- Term 3 Begins

This day marks the beginning of the third term in the 2016-2017 school year and marks the end or beginning of all half year courses.

Students can expect their grades for the second term to be posted on their Skyward accounts in the following week.

Monday 1/23- “Just Think” Teen Expo

All middle school and high school students along with their parents or guardians are invited to the Just Think: Teens Making Smart Choice Expo.

This event features performances from some South organizations including a capella groups Newtones and Crescendo, Ligerbots, and free henna tattoos from the South Asian Students Association.

In addition, 30 community exhibitors including Bike Newton and the John M. Barry Boys and Girls Club will be at this event informing attendees about issues ranging from pedestrian safety to healthy eating to stress reduction.

This event will be held on this day at Newton North High School from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Wednesday 1/25- Junior Parent Night

Due to the fire that caused the unexpected cancellation of last week’s junior parent night, this event has been rescheduled to this day beginning at 7 p.m. in the Newton South Field House.

Director of Guidance Dan Rubin and College and Career Counselor Kathy Sabet will present short programs before parents will meet with their child’s guidance counselor for more specific information.

This Past Week:

Friday 1/20- Freshman Parent Coffee 

Parents or guardians of the freshman class were invited to join House Dean Donna Gordon, members of the guidance staff, and class advisers for a coffee dedicated to answering questions about their student’s future at South.
