This Past Week:
Thursday through Saturday, 10/27 through 10/29: This past weekend, South Stage’s second stage production of the year took place in the lab theater. Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead follows the actions of two of the most insignificant characters in Shakespeare’s Hamlet as they try to discover their identities and do what is asked of them. The play is thought-provoking, with the regular subtly of dry humour and irony. The play was directed by Denebola’s very own senior Abby Lass, who worked with North senior Emily Eacker. With a cast including both North and South, the show was incredible and hooked the audience from the start. Even though this was only the second South Stage production of the year, it set the bar high.
This Coming Week:
Wednesday 11/2: Euphonic, Newton South’s newest a cappella group, is holding an interest meeting during J-block in the chorus room. The group is audition only, meets on weekends, and is excited to expand it’s membership! Stop by if you can or email abbylass@gmail.com if you’re busy but still interested.
Friday 11/4: Although there haven’t been really been any blockbusters this past month, just wait for this coming weekend. Due to release in the US on Friday, Doctor Strange is expected to crush the box offices. This movie is the next Marvel installment, and stars the one and only Benedict Cumberbatch, who plays a brain surgeon who is forced to change his life after an accident. The movie scored a 93% on Rotten Tomatoes and grossed $86 million in overseas box offices.
