Newton South congratulates everyone who was elected, as well as those who ran.

This year, Sarah Laughlin returns for her fourth and final year in class office and her second time being president. She shares her excitement to be the president for the class of 2022.

For the seniors, Sarah says her “main goals are strengthening [the] grade-wide community for [seniors’] last year by boosting attendance at sports games, theatre performances, and other Newton South events.”

This year will be Andrew Hsu’s third year as a class officer and second year as class president for the class of 2023.

Kevin Yang returns for his second year as class president for the class of 2024. Yang states that “last year was definitely a learning experience,” but it allowed him to “become a more thoughtful person and a better leader.”

This year, he strives to “gain back the field trips and grade-wide events that COVID had taken away,” such as the freshman cruise; Yang says the class office team is working to have a sophomore cruise to make up for the event.

Michael Shen is taking on the role of the first class president for the class of 2025.
