Class of 2023 Senior Awards

Each year, Newton South selects certain students of the graduating class to recognize in the form of senior awards.

In order to narrow the list of high achievers down to a select few, Vice Principal Mr. Williams states that “staff considers extracurricular participation, academic performance, athletic involvement, general student qualities in line with our school values, and many other considerations to determine who gets an award.” The faculty evaluates students in the broad scope of their personalities and achievements, and many factors determine who is the best fit for an award.

So who decides who gets an award? According to Mr. Williams, “staff participate in a collaborative process and weigh in to decide who gets an award.” This committee is composed of admin and teachers who discuss the qualities of the students. Then, they decide who has the qualities that best represent the award in question.

See below for the list of students the school awarded for their “myriad [of] accomplishments and contributions.”
