South’s gymnastics team is highly optimistic about this year’s season.

“With the addition of numerous strong freshman it should definitely be a victorious season for us,” captain Kaela Meyer said.

According to Meyer, the team’s potential weak areas are bars and vault. “We are going to do our best and have fun,” she said.  The gymnastics team is looking forward to the competition and have high expectations, as they made regionals and came in 11th last year, she said.

The boy’s gymnastics team has been training very hard for this upcoming season.

Captain Ado Moshe wants everyone on the team to work hard and improve. “I want everyone to have a routine,” Moshe said. “Even if it is a basic one.”

South’s biggest competition is North: “One of our goals is to score higher than North,” Moshe said.

While the team is confident about their abilities, “strength training is very important,” Moshe said. “This will let us do more advanced moves.”

Overall, the team is confident about their upcoming season, despite the small size of the program, he said.
