John Mayer may be one of the most talented guitarists alive right now, and he is my favorite artist of all time. With role models, such as legends BB King, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Mayer is a blues guitarist at heart, though he does dabble with folk and pop-rock quite a bit. “The Wind Cries Mary” by John Mayer is actually a cover of the great Jimi Hendrix’s song. Although Hendrix is a true legend, Mayer does put the name to shame, as he absolutely delivers crisp chords and and a surreal solo. With all this techno, pop trash, and rap songs about getting drunk at a club, I think its time that we take a moment to appreciate the magic that a brilliant mind, two incredible hands, and a guitar can create. Don’t be fooled! There is only one guitar and Mayer’s voice in this song; his ability to play chords while soloing is on par with Hendrix. Enjoy!
