Tuesday 4/5/16- One School, One Question
Through Schoology, english department head, Brian Baron, will announce the new required summer reading system that South has now implemented.
Instead of the traditional One School, One Book system, this year’s selection committee has decided to focus on one question and give students the option to pick from a list of five books that all pertain to a central theme, adopting the new name of One School, One Question.
On this day at 2:15, the list of chosen books will be revealed on all students’ Schoology pages.
Baron also has announced that the school day dedicated to discussing the guiding question will be on September 23 of next year.
Thursday 4/7/16- Term IV Begins

This Past Week:
Friday 4/1/16- Retired Faculty Luncheon
During all three lunches in the Faculty Dining Room, over 35 retired Newton South faculty members came together to honor and remember their years of dedication and mentorship at South.
Former biology teacher, Carol Bershad, expresses how the character and mindset of the majority of the retired faculty drives them to keep visiting.
“The teachers that have come to Newton South through the years are a really good group of people that really care about kids and education and I think this is why so many people come back for the alumni luncheon,” said Bershad.
Bershad also explained how the luncheon serves as a chance for her to witness the current state and any changes South has gone through.
“It’s nice to see what’s going on today and how the school has evolved,” said Bershad.
