Tonight, under the lights, the Newton South Lions play one of their biggest games of the year against Boston Latin.
The team was most recently defeated by Waltham in an 8-0 loss. Although the Lions struggled to put themselves on top offensively, their defense held up strong. Captain Aidan Lopci said, “We kept our heads up for the entire game and never gave up.” The Lions know there is always room for improvement and will be ready for their upcoming game.
On the defensive side of the ball, “We plan on coming out hitting harder than ever on our first play of the game, and not stopping until the end of the fourth quarter”, Lopci said. The expectations for defending against their opponents are very high, as one of the team’s main goals for the season is keeping the opponents’ points total to a minimum.
Meanwhile, on the offensive end, the Lions are prepared to keep the pressure on, putting points up on the board. Running back Raekwon Washington said, “The guys have the skill, the offensive line will have a good game”. The Lions have several different threats receiving the football, as well as running it. “Aidan Lopci has been doing great with the run gain and moving after making contact, he will have a great game this Friday,” Washington said.

As the long week of hard practice comes to an end, the Lions are ready to put on a show in front of their home crowd. On both ends of the ball, the Lions do not plan on letting off the gas until the final play. Come to support the Lions this Friday at 7 pm at the stadium, as this persistent team will give it all they got. Wear blue and orange.
