Lacrosse Season Starts Early for these South Students

Although South’s girls lacrosse team starts midway through March, some players are eager to get on the field sooner. The Bay State Bullets Winter League program began on January 4 and takes place every Sunday for seven weeks at the Edge Sports Center in Bedford, MA.

This league is unlike others – there are no practices or coaches. The team is brought together by this year’s strong senior captains Cecily Farrow and Libby McKeigue. Teammates are also responsible for subbing in and out when needed, creating their own game play, and choosing their own positions.

As the season progresses, schools from all around Massachusetts will compete for a spot in the semi-finals and, eventually, the finals. Depending on South’s standing, we hope to advance to the final eighth game and win the championship.

This Bay State Bullets program offers a great opportunity for players looking to join the South team in March, as well as for those seeking friendly competition and the chance to get to know teammates better. Overall, the winter league is a fun and competitive way for players to stay active, improve skills, and prepare for the upcoming spring season.
