Spring Preview: Girls’ Tennis

The girls’ tennis team is getting back into action this season and is looking to build on its playoff success from last year. Inclement weather, though, has disrupted the team’s preseason as snow has made practicing outside a struggle.

“The weather is always tricky in the beginning of the season,” senior captain Sofie Epshtein said. “We often have to cancel practices or matches due to rain during the normal season, so having snow during the beginning makes playing outside impossible.”

Still, the snow didn’t scare too many people away from trying out for this year’s team. Tryouts reportedly went well with a large number of underclassmen set to join the freshman and junior varsity teams this spring.

This influx of new players offers the team more versatility in terms of choosing lineups, and according to Epshtein, mixing up lineups will allow the team find its best set of players.

“In terms of changing from last year’s team, this year we are really looking to rebuild our team, and while doing that hopefully be able to form a fun, tight-knit group of players.” Epshtein said.
