Yes, you read that correctly — the best cookies are coming to Boston. “Which cookies?” you ask. Levain Bakery’s giant, chunky, gooey cookies will be finding a new home on Newbury Street.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with these delicious treats, Levain Bakery has “New York City’s Most Famous Cookies.” And that is not just a marketing strategy; the cookies deserve every bit of their fame. For me, it is not a trip to New York without a stop at Levain Bakery. Some might say the bakery is a staple of the city. My sister and I have even tried to create the cookies ourselves…not too successfully!

The new location will be the first in New England, though the bakery has seven locations in New York and two in the D.C. area.

Within the past year, Levain Bakery cookies have appeared in the frozen aisle of some grocery stores like Whole Foods. However, I cannot imagine that they are as delicious as the authentic cookies that come fresh out of the oven. How could frozen cookies compare to fresh ones?

Luckily, we Bostonians will soon not have to travel 200+ miles to enjoy the variety of cookies that Levain has to offer. Their six flavors include chocolate chip walnut, dark chocolate peanut butter chip, dark chocolate chocolate chip, oatmeal raisin, and two-chip chocolate. The menu will also feature brioche, loaf cakes, loaves of bread, drinks, and more.

The Greater Boston community is excited to welcome Levain Bakery to kick off 2022. You will be able to find it at 180 Newbury Street, near Copley Square.
