This Week in Arts- 10/10

This Past Week:

Friday, 10/7: Although there hasn’t been any new hit songs in a while, there have been some Oscar worthy movies that were released this past Friday, including The Birth of a Nation, which is directed by and stars Nate Parker and follows the events of the Nat Turner slave rebellion decades before the start of the Civil War, and Girl on a Train, which is based off the bestselling novel by Paula Hawkins and follows an alcoholic woman as she increasingly becomes drawn into the supposedly perfect lives of a family of strangers. Both are likely to receive Oscar nods, and are certainly worth checking out.

This Coming Week:

Thursday-Saturday 10/13-15: South’s first musical production of the year will take place in the auditorium. Bat Boy, a somewhat satirical and thriller-isa musical, is being performed at 7:00 by South students and faculty (including Principle Stembridge on bass guitar). Make sure to be there to support all your peers that worked so hard to bring this show to life!
