This Upcoming Week:
Monday 9/26- Parking Lot Construction Resumes
On this day, sections of the Wheeler parking lot will be closed due to the resumption of the installation of solar panels in the lot.
South recommends that parents avoid dropping their children off in front of the Wheeler entrance because traffic will be restricted to only one lane resulting in long delays for both parents and faculty trying to park.
Also, parents are advised to not drop their kids off at the Breezeway entrance, which is dedicated to be a bus only zone during the morning commute.
The more members of the South community that can avoid Brandeis Road the better to allow those who have to park at the school the space and ability to do so.
As a result, parents are asked to drop their children off a block or two away or at Oak Hill and Brown, so their kids can walk across the field to South.

All parents of the junior class are welcomed to attend the junior parent coffee hosted on this Monday from 8:00-9:30 a.m. at the home of Janice and Rick Lipof located at 105 Baldpate Hill Road in Newton Center.

This Past Week:
Friday 9/23- One School One Question
As expected, the annual One School One Question day brought the entire South community together and enabled students to discuss and learn new perspectives about controversial current issues.
The day began with speeches from Principal Joel Stembridge, History Teacher Deborah Linder, and a moving reflection as her time as a first generation college student from Keynote Speaker Ana Barros.
Students then broke off into their chosen panels, which held discussion ranging from islamophobia to police brutality to female experiences at South. All students also attended book discussions for the specific book they read and further explored the themes and topics analyzed by their books.
