The cancellation of the rest of the 2019-2020 school year raises many questions regarding plans for the Senior Class of 2020. For instance, each graduating class generally gives a Senior gift to Newton South High School.
As of right now, the Class of 2020 is working on a gift to give to Newton South, but no specific idea has been confirmed.
“The class had several ideas, from a park bench to a framed board of all faculty within the school. That said, none of these plans were truly fleshed out before Coronavirus hit,” said Senior class officer Frank Jiao.
Regardless of the circumstances, it has been confirmed that the Class of 2020 will ultimately be presenting a gift to bring their time at Newton South to a close.
“Each plan had differing reasons, from honoring faculty that don’t get recognized as much to memorializing the deaths of several classmates this year,” Jiao said.
Despite the devastating conditions put upon the Seniors this year, their desire to leave Newton South a better place remains intact.
