Spring Preview: Baseball

Coach: Ron Jordan
Captains: Jesse Feldstein, Justin Moy, Eric Manditch

The boys’ baseball team feels confident as it approaches this spring season and hopes to once again return to the state tournament.

Despite losing last season’s DCL MVP, the team has a strong core of players.

“We should have a lot of depth on our roster given the amount of experience and talent we have,” junior captain Eric Manditch said.

Last season, the baseball team won its first nine games of the season, but struggled down the stretch and finished just 10-10. South made the playoffs but lost in the first round to Saint John’s.

Working to advance deeper into the tournament this year, the team practiced together three times a week over the offseason to improve its pitching, hitting and fielding.

The team has set high goals for the upcoming season, striving to emerge as one of the best teams in the DCL and make some noise in the playoffs. Senior captain Justin Moy believes that his team can meet these lofty aspirations.

“We have some talent, but we need to work hard to achieve success,” Moy said.
